    Bad Limp

Scales in a spot above toes have turned blackish. I am treating with arnica to take away bruising. she is recovering and walking/hopping. should be walking normally in about two weeks. However, two of her scales have come off. will they grow back? What is underneath the scales, bone?

still holding her leg funny. will upload a picture. she does lower it so her toes just rest on the ground and there is a dark spot on scales on her leg. could this be a bruise? if a chicken had a bruised leg, would it walk on it?

Guess what! she hasn't been put down. Mum gave her to a friend to put down, but her husband just kept her rested. he said she was eating and drinking and would slowly lower her foot. he said they don't eat if they are suffering, so he won't put her down. he has given her back to us and i will...

    multiple worries for the ladies

Give them things to perch on (logs, swings), hang up a cabbage head. I found with mine that if you put an empty disposable water bottle lying down with pellets in it, they like to kick it about to get food

He said it happens very easily in a hen. He said it isn’t uncommon they can do it just by landing incorrectly when startled or even jumping down off something. Would have had to xray it to check for sure but very likely either broken or pulled out of joint and ligaments stretched and may...

she does not stand on her leg. she holds it up and hops on one. sometimes supports herself with wings or lies on her side

do i wrap the gauze between the toes and make the foot flat? (i am refering to the 'ankle' as being on the foot just above the toes.)
  11. D

    Bad Limp

No, i can not view the view. it looks a bruise colour where the 'ankle' is. she holds her foot out from her body, as though her knee is pushed in- but she still lowers it. when she sits, she also hold it out. Use your right arm and bend it at the elbow to 95 degrees. then pivot at the elbow 40...

I can not access much on this internet. Could someone send me photos of a broken chicken ankle/elbow? I have no idea how to tell which is broken, so should i splint the whole leg? Do i spread her toes and put them on like a frame to keep them there?

and what should i use as a padding?
  14. D

    Bad Limp

No i can't access that video. I will have to wait as she has decided to lay. I am still hesitant as to where the brake is. By the sound of it, would you say it was the ankle?

should i use paddle pop stick for the slint or just wrap it. she will move her leg around and go to take steps but won't rest her foot. do i spread her toes when i splint?
