Broody chicken causing other hens to stop laying?

Our ducks have been extremely good hiders with one nesting in plain sight. It took us several days to find her at the base of a pear tree.

Something you saw a chicken do that made you stop and say, WHAT The Hell?

Our hens don’t do anything about squirrels but our Khaki Campbell drake will get his knickers in a twist and chase squirrels and other birds. I did find my hens about to take out a baby squirrel that fell out of a nest. We nicknamed him lunchbox because they were going to open him up and clean...

Do chickens really like to be held?

We have a Salmon Faverolle hen that was raised as an only and she seeks you out for attention. If you sit, she is on your lap or shoulder. She loves cuddles. We had two Rhode Island’s that we got as day olds. We didn’t make pets of them but they would run and practically trip you to be petted...

We’ve always had sweet peas ( an overzealous kid planted them decades ago) I didn’t know that they were poisonous and our poultry has never bothered with them. We have several things mentioned and no problems. Now watch, one of the up and comers will show me up.

Do people lie about how many eggs they get??

I have two Rhode Island Reds that we got as chicks last April. They started laying in September and for the most part have laid all winter long. We may have had a couple of days where neither laid and have had a few days where one has laid but not the other. Almost always two a day and now that...

Khaki Campbell Hen is molting flight feathers

My female duck is molting her flight feathers and is generally really messy looking. Her egg production had slowed and is nonexistent now that she is molting. I’m concerned that she would be molting in November when it is in the low 30s overnight. Our ducks and 2 Rhode Island Reds coexist and...

She did but I like to feed them 2-3 times a day and gave them extra treats. That may not have happened

    Calcium and vitamin d supplements

No she’s 2 1/2 years. She started off strong and had stayed this way until this summer. I was gone most of the summer and I don’t trust my family to take care of them the way I do.

No. She is 2 1/2 years. I knew her laying would slow down but when her shells started getting thinner I was worried and started adding more oyster shell. This week seems slightly better but I don’t want her to get run down.

    Calcium and vitamin d supplements

My female Khaki Campbell has started laying eggs with much thinner shells. I’ve added extra oyster shell with their feed and the feed is an oyster strong feed. Any suggestions to help her along?
