Does a white head dot always mean barred/cuckoo? If not, then...?

The white dot means a male in sex linked chickens. However, you do not have the breeds for sexlink so yours means nothing about sex....it could be male or female with an equal chance of either.

    Recommendations for a Hatchery?

you could be right...lots of complaints with TSC having roosters sexed as pullets and they are pricey but you could very well be right

    Recommendations for a Hatchery?

Unfortunately we had ZERO chickens at the time and had not had any in at a long time so it was their chickens. It appears, according to the reviews, to be resolved. No recent reviews are mentioning sick birds. Google will remove reviews easily for the seller but Yelp will not. You can get a...

    Recommendations for a Hatchery?

Thank you...I've gotten plenty of roosters in my 30 years or raising chickens from hatchery orders. However, when one company had tons of bad reviews, they can't all be ignored.

    Recommendations for a Hatchery?

We got a disease and had to cull everything on one of our farms. The last time was about two years ago or maybe less and I took a break on chickens. We ordered a small amount of straight run (that's all that they had) about 6 months ago. They are laying great but we only got a few (20) of...

Can I raise baby roosters on corn and table scraps only?

I'm not just blindly going for it with nothing but corn without advice from people who have done it but I agree, chick starter has not been around long, so table scraps and other meat/fish products might work. Thank you.

Can I raise baby roosters on corn and table scraps only?

The point of this post was advice and not simply to just go for it and see what happens. Nobody wants to pay $2 per bird after shipping, feed them for months, and then fail and be out all that money. Just blindly going for it makes no sense and defeats the purpose of the post.

Can I raise baby roosters on corn and table scraps only?

but it's still expensive and I will not get away with paying around $20 per chicken to raise them--even with this feed. It's not feasible to raise a chicken paying $20-25 just to eat it. I was hoping to find a cheaper route.

How many feet of water hose can my well handle?

I want them to be able to free range in the huge pen. They are in mobile pen right now and it's costing me way too much in feed. 700 feet is not near enough for 70 chickens to free range. The pen size is not the question. The question is that I have found a safe spot--safe from chicken...

I have never had a livestock dog take care of hawks and owls....

We've been adopted by an old stray hen.

She's so pretty! IF nothing else, she might be great bug control.
