    cutest chicken names!

We have 5 hyalines.. Penny, Bossy britches, Twilight are our older girls and Honey and Dodo are our pullets. Honey started laying yesterday but Dodo's comb is still quite small and pale. :)

Thankyou all for your honest replies. I have 2 hyalines now that are a bit over 18 months old. They haven't layed an egg for about 6 months! I guess I am just impatient for egg layers. My girls are pets too, they have a nice run and come out to free range in my back yard until the sun comes...

Is it normal to not be able to get 'different' breeds at point of lay? I've been trying to source some pullets from a few nearby places but they all have chicks of just a few weeks old. Only one has actually replied to my email, the other phone calls/messages have gone unanswered :( The local...

Thankyou Ben for the link. Sorry its taken me so long to get back here to answer. I will definitely look into the Yarloop breeders. I don't get up to Perth very often at all.

They weren't really keen on it, and I was worried they weren't eating enough so we mixed probably 2/3rds...

Thanks for answering. :) Yes that's what I thought too. They are both happy enough, I let them out onto the grass to roam in the morning, they go back in their pen under a big bush during the day and then come back out later in the afternoon again when its cooled off. They eat fine, roost fine...

Thankyou so much for answering. Its a huge relief to know the yellow isn't out of the ordinary. Some pretty scary things pop up when you google 'yellow poo in chickens.' I have treated for lice and worms with the follow up treatments. Neither of them have any bugs on them now. The wormer I have...

Sorry, I meant to say that I'm concerned the top of the poo is yellow, not bright white as it used to be.

Hi everyone. I have been reading threads on BYC for quite a while and have finally joined up. I live in Western Australia. We have had chickens for about a year, they were pullets and just laying when we got them. I think one is molting as she is losing some feathers (I see new feathers coming...
