Chicken is still suffering from sour crop after more than a week of home remedies

Yeah, really happy the remedies worked and now she's back to eating like normal. The re-integration process is going to take some time though. She's being very aggressive to the other 3 girls so we're going to have to take it slow. Wyorp Rock and everyone else on this thread was so helpful. So...

Chicken is still suffering from sour crop after more than a week of home remedies

She's doing pretty well eating and drinking now and I think she's REALLY ready to leave the kennel. Thanks again for the help!

Sorry, I've been caught up in my own drama that I forgot to ask how your girl is doing. Is she better?

Chicken is still suffering from sour crop after more than a week of home remedies

Tomato Juice seems to be doing the trick. And she drinks it herself! :thumbsup This morning the sour breath was barely detectable. If the it goes completely away would it be okay to put her back outside with the other girls?

Chicken is still suffering from sour crop after more than a week of home remedies

Ok, I'm going to give her the day off and tomorrow I'll give that a try. I got her to eat a couple bites of a tomato but that's it. nel is covered in a good layer of course sand. I sprinkle bits of food and stuff on it to get her forage. I also keep a small tray of crushed oyster shell in the...

Chicken is still suffering from sour crop after more than a week of home remedies

Update on Moxie: Finally finished with the Miconazole! Her crop is almost completely empty, there is just a very small amount of the squishy stuff left in the bottom. She's pooping more and the last few days and it's become firmer which is encouraging. She's eating a little more feed but she...

Chicken is still suffering from sour crop after more than a week of home remedies

Not much improvement in the crop this morning even though she had pretty big poop overnight. Poop is still watery with little black pebbles. She woke up hungry and poked around but found very little that appealed to her. Tried some new food that was suggested like chopped soft boiled egg and...

Chicken is still suffering from sour crop after more than a week of home remedies

I have tried that a few times but couldn't get anything to come out. Haven't tried it for a couple of days because it kinda scared me.

Chicken is still suffering from sour crop after more than a week of home remedies

I fully intend to finish the Miconazole. We have 4 more days to go. I give her 2 ml twice a day. Is that enough, too much, not enough? The thing that has me really worried is the squishy crop that almost feels like it's full of water. Thank you for your advice it's much appreciated.

Chicken is still suffering from sour crop after more than a week of home remedies

Thank you so much for your post. It gives me some hope. Unfortunately, Moxie was just starting to get her feathers back after a pretty good moult so she already a bit under weight because she barely eats when she's moulting. Now with the sour crop she's barely eating again. I've been trying...

Chicken is still suffering from sour crop after more than a week of home remedies

I forgot to mention that I did withhold food for about 36 hours when I brought her inside. Doing that along with the other remedies I mentioned and massages I managed to get the crop loosened up and the crop is much smaller now and very squishy. It's sour crop I'm dealing with now and from your...

Chicken is still suffering from sour crop after more than a week of home remedies

This started with an impacted crop about 9 days ago. Tried treating it with doses of olive oil and messages (which I've had success with a couple of times in the past). Managed to get it loosened up but two days later it turned sour. Then tried many of the home remedies: apple cider solution...

Thank you all for your welcoming posts! Everyone's so nice. I want to post photos of my girls but I lost a lot of my snapshots when I lost my phone.🙄 I'll be sure to post some when I have some good ones. Right now, I'm learning to navigate this forum because I need to post about my sweet girl...

    New from Nevada

Hi I'm Dee, (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Sort of new, my parents had chickens for a few years when I was young. They were all my pets and I loved taking care of them. Now, MANY years later, I’m retired and in the spring 2021 I decided to build my own small...
