    First Time Egg Candler Scared!

    I have a hen that just wants to sit on the eggs, so I need to know how to candle them. I have used a flash light with the egg on top of a toilet paper roll, but have not been able to see anything. Is there a better way?

    What bedding do you use in your coop??

    I use the planer shavings in the nest boxes as well and it seems to be the best thing I have found for the boxes.

    I have used everything from cat litter to pine straw and have found, I think, the best bedding so far. My husband has a work shop and works on wood products all the time. The shavings from his planer have worked well and the chickens seem to like it the best. I am pretty happy with the shavings.
