I tried that with mine because I wanted to give her water in a syringe, but when I got to the third step, she shook her head side to side and wouldn't hold her mouth open. Do you know how I can stop this?
Thank you,
Demi
We live urban too but if the chooks aren't too loud and if you explain to your neighbours that its only for a short while, it should be okay.
Good luck
Agreed! I think the best thing to do would be to wait it out a few months to see if they lay eggs. Although, that could depend on if you live in the country or urban areas. Could be a bit of trouble from your neighbours if its urban!
I have 2 silkies, both hens (they lay eggs) and they crow. It sounds like you have described, a hoarse noise. Also, it might help to know when they crow. For example, mine crow when another chicken is laying an egg (they think the nest box is all theirs!), or when the other silkie is broody...
So, I'm new to BYC and I have 2 questions.
1) I have read through the 'MUST READ' article and it says that when you do 25 posts, you become a New Egg, at 50 posts, you become a Newly Hatched (they may not be the right info, but it's the right gist). I'm wondering what it means by posts. Is it...
When I'm scrolling down reading replies to questions, I see that some people have a quote/description at the bottom of the box with their reply.
Anyone know how you get this?
Thanks,
Demi
Hi,
I have 2 silkies and a frizzle and was wondering how to cut their nails? I have seen a few videos on it but unfortunately, one of my silkies is black so I can't see the quick in her toes. Any ideas on how to cut her toes?
Thanks,
Demi
My white silkie often gets 'blackness' in her hair but it's usually just dirt. You could always use normal saline (0.9%) which is the liquid that people have in their blood. I'm not sure if this would affect their eyes but it should be okay.
Good luck!
