Shrink wrapped or drowned - please tell me I didn't.

Me again! Okay so I now have 8 great chicks (hatched on day 21) and on day 22 two eggs in the incubator, one has a cracked shell on the side but lower than where the air pocket is, no movement or chirping, has anyone experienced this before? The other has not pipped internally which makes me...

Shrink wrapped or drowned - please tell me I didn't.

Good news, two pipped chicks have just hatched together and look great. Just two still to pip at the end of day 21. Thank you for the advice, it is pretty humid here so I think I was probably worrying for no good reason. Lets hope not too humid for the late comers.

Shrink wrapped or drowned - please tell me I didn't.

So do I, I think my learning is that nature does it best so I need to leave them to it and stop interfering.

Pecking behavior in brand new chick?

It is made out of recycled paper, it seems to work well, absorbs any mess and spills and easy to remove just the soiled bit without having to clean the whole cage.

Pecking behavior in brand new chick?

I am no expert but the chicks are happy to spend most of the day underneath it and are doing well so I think it must works.

Pecking behavior in brand new chick?

Patience seems to be the key, the chicks are getting along fine. Still a little pecking but nothing worrying. Thanks for the advice.

Pecking behavior in brand new chick?

I am having the same issue, I have three chicks so far, the first is 2 days old the others less than 1 day. The first is a large chick and it is pecking the two smaller chicks around the beak and eyes. I have returned the younger ones to the incubator. Should I remove the big chick instead?

Pipped at but no progress 16 hours later

Thank you for the warm welcomes - I had no reason to worry, he hatched whilst I slept so just waiting to see whether the other two eggs will join is. This is my second hatch and after helping a chick last time I don't want to again as it was a disaster for the chick. I have been reading BYC for...

Pipped at but no progress 16 hours later

My eggs have been in the incubator for 21 days, I have had two lovely lively chicks hatch and another pipped 16 hours ago without any further progress or signs of movement. I have resisted helping or opening the incubator but spend far too long staring at the eggs. The temp is about 37 and...
