I’ve never had a bantam, I’m totally loving this breed! I’m getting him some nice hens as soon as I can source a high quality show bloodline. He’s gonna be stoked! Kleiner is just a hatchery bird so I’ll need to get some stellar genetics in the hens.
I have a dog that hears the chicks in the incubator before the pip externally and he lets me know, he’ll even wake me up!
The down isn’t like hair, too soft to poke into the skin so no itches 🤷♂️
There is not itching or discomfort unless you have an allergy to bird dander. I experience no skin irritation.

Correct. Its my argument that the owner should be diligent to make the site as accessible to everyone as they possibly can, because this is vital information for people here, and can save bird lives and improve husbandry etc.
Here is an update for the folks watching this thread- the two first f1’s are now at day16 and growing like weeds. Tub photo for scale. I have 5 out, another one out by Thursday, should end up with 15-20 of these crosses by the time Winter sets in and they stop until Spring.
Skin to skin, aka "kangaroo care" in human pediatrics, helps these goslings dry off and feel strong emotionally when you are not batch-setting and goslings come out without hatchmates. You do the first exposure as soon as they are dry but the down-film hasn't flaked off, once the navel shrinks...
