I came here tonight, as my Mr. Roo attacked me when I went to collect eggs. He came right at me, trying to spur me but I chased him. I know its spring here and he's protective now. Guess who will win this fight? ME. I have 6 hens who are dears.... But Mr. Roo ( who was just made famous in my...
Today was a Very Hard day. My beloved rooster DeWalt has died. I buried him with flowers and corn, and place a statue to mark his final resting place. R. I. P. my friend, you lived long for a Rooster, and will be missed.
Tylan Soluble is tylosin tartrate BP (Vet) a white to medium yellow coloured soluble powder for oral solution. I get it at Tractor Supply. 1 tbsp per gallon of water. 1 packet lasts about 12 gallons. Cost 5.40.
Thank You. Heading to Tractor Supply now for more feed, I'll get more oyster shells too. The egg looks normal after cleaning, but curious whats inside.
Today I gathered eggs and had 1 in a milky sack type thing. The egg was normal looking, just in this sack. I cleaned off the stick sack, and the egg looks ok. Never saw this before.
Anything I should worry about?
Thank you in advance
I have 3 RI REDS and 1 has been in the same nesting spot for 2 days. I've taken 4 eggs from under her, but I haven't seen her move to eat or drink....it's 90+ degrees.
Tonight I placed her in a wire cage with food and water to try and break this. Good idea? Bad idea? I'm new, and was reading...
I agree with the Rhode Island Reds. I was suggested to get those and I did. They are free range, yard hens with 1 Rooster. Both hens are friendly, and one started laying 3 days ago. Nice yummy brown eggs too.
I'm now getting an egg a day which mean 1 hen is laying and the other is not.... what? why could this be when both are the same age, although DeWalt ( my Roo) is smitten over the one laying.
I just called my best friend... " I have my first egg." He was not as thrilled, as I'm beaming.
I know how you all felt now. WOW, this is a day i'll remember.
I just saw my RIR's laying over, tail feathers up, wing extended, and thought......OH MY, They've been here 2 weeks and I got them sick?
I ran in to check my new favorite website.....BYC.....and Now I feeling like an idiot. Yup, they're up , dusting in the dust hole, eating the snack I brought...
So Dewalt spent the evening in the coop with his new Hens. This was a first. He only roosts in there at night when the rains come hard. He can't wait till I open that pen .
