6 week old bantam cockerels in the Bay Area!

Sadly, my 3 bantams are all confirmed cockerels. I have a white silkie, silver duckwing oegb and black cochin bantam. I am absolutely crushed to have to re-home them and I would very much like to keep them together because they are bonded. Raised with children and so very sweet. Anyone looking...

    Bay Area BYCers!

Hello all! Never made it to this section of the board. I’m in Pleasant Hill! I have 3 bantams that were just confirmed cockerels so sadly I will have to rehome. Any advice on that? They are 6 weeks old and bonded so ideal situation would be somewhere they can go together. Super friendly, raised...

You all sure know your stuff! I used IQ for DNA testing and all 3 are confirmed males. Wow, my luck!

Haha! It’s ok to recant. That seems to be the overall consensus. I’m surprised but I guess I know how to pick them. Apparently I need to do the opposite of whatever I did when I made my choices.

I’m surprised to hear so many saying the OEGB is a cockerel. I was convinced she was a girl. Here are a couple more pics I just snapped so you can see more of him/her.

Yeah, the Cochin was sold as a frizzle but I understand that some come out smooth.

I have a white silkie, black frizzle cochin bantam and a silver duckwing old English bantam that are just over 5 weeks old. I know it’s too early but care to take a gender guess? Thanks!!

Too early but care to guess?

Thank you guys!! I am certain the other 3 are pullets too so it’s really just the BA that there is some disagreement on. Knowing nothing about the breed, I assume cockerel based on the comb and wattles too but I’ve read here and other places that australorp females can develop early. I will keep...

Is my 7 wk Australorp a roo?

Boy, these australorps sure confuse me. Mine is 7 weeks old and I think it’s a cockerel. Comb and wattles are more developed than yours so perhaps you have pullets?

6 week old biting neck of others?

Wow! Ok thanks. I thought 6 weeks might be too young for that kind of behavior from a cockerel but I guess not. Thanks again!

6 week old biting neck of others?

Hello! I have four 6 week old chicks and twice now, one chick has bit the neck of two of the others. It happened on two separate days while they were out of the coop, eating grass around the yard. In both cases, I heard a loud squawk so I looked over and the guilty chick had its beak attached to...
