None 😏 I ordered another dozen, same seller and nothing. Not trusting eggs shipped in foam again. I actually seen a thread on the backyard FB page talking abt this and most people say they don’t have good hatching rates when eggs are shipped in foam.
I found a chart online that shows what colors you get from breeding a paint silkie to a chocolate silkie however I am wondering if this chart is accurate if the hen is a black that came from a paint pen. If I cross my black silkie hen to my chocolate rooster will I get paints or inly black roos...
Yes, the calculator said they would be blue and males will be barred so I wasn’t sure if the barring in CL shows up as chipmunk pattern or the dot on the head. This is the baby that hatched.
Did they look like CL chicks when they were chicks? Meaning with the chipmunk pattern? I just hatched some from my CL hen and splash maran and I know they should be sex linked so I am trying to find out if they would have the chipmunk pattern only in males.
No, he doesn’t have barred gene, I bred him. The first 5 chicks I hatched had the dot but I hatched some recently that don’t have the dot so that made me wonder if these were all females and the ones with the dot were all males, if so it’s way easier to sex than having to wait for their feathers...
Yes but these are not a barred breed. It’s a blue roo with a barred hen. It should give me barred males and solid color females, so I’m wondering if the females will have a spot on the head too or only the males?
Hello peeps, I have a genetics question. I crossed a blue roo with my olive egger who is half cuckoo maran, therefore she has the barring gene and will give sexed off springs that are barred, only males will be barred. My question is, will all chicks have a dot on the top of the head or only...
Thank you for your reply. Do you know if all eggs that have no development or red ring means they’re weren’t fertilized or does that not apply to shipped eggs because of the rough conditions they went through?
I got shipped eggs, did everything I read on here to do and also some advice from FB I believe… out of 14 eggs, only 4 are developing. This is the least I’ve had develop from shipped eggs and I did things a little different, left them without turning for a week, among other things. I’m wondering...
I have 2 mottled girls that look like yours, one has more white, it’s prettier. They are satin like yours, not silkie feathers. Again, not 100% silkie. The mottled is bred from cochins, you have to keep breeding back to silkies to get the silkie feathers.
