Sorry, I never saw your question! Last summer my husband and I put aviary netting over the entire chicken yard. A bit of a painful process! Prior to that, I would;d let them out of their run in the m morning and close it after they went to bed each night.

Multiple broody breaking - help, please!

So, today we started breaking the broads. I have a very large dog crate, and they are all hanging out there for the foreseeable future (with food & water). Wish me luck!

Multiple broody breaking - help, please!

I have four adult hens right now, and *three* are broody. One has been broody for over 10 weeks. She incubated one egg, but abandoned it on it's last day (I put it in the incubator and it hatched fine). None of my hens has ever been a mama before. I do have a rooster but am not interested in any...

Ended Official BYC Coop Page Contest #9

Question for the mods - I created my article in the "coops" section, didn't specify "large coops" - can that be done when the article is put into the index after the contest is over? Or is that something I should try to change now?

9 week old BLRW - are these roos?

Hello! I have two Blue Laced Red Wyandotte that I am thinking are male. They have more red on them, act more male-ish, and are a little bigger than their siblings. What do you think? "a" has more red and "b" has more black.

Chicks had Coccidiosis - question re: probiotics

First time chicken mom here. I have BLRW chicks of varying ages. My babies were pooping blood so I treated them for Coccidiosis with one week of Corid. Everyone seems good but I read here on BYC that it's a good idea to give them probiotics after treatment. I got the Sav-a Chick probiotic and...
