How many eggs can one eat savely?

Selling is not that easy, many people have chickens here around and most people would not value more or less organical produced eggs at all? I am not aware of food banks here around, though occasional, there are collections in supermarkets, but I am unsure if they'd take eggs not...

    Livestock guardian dogs

Glad that it works for you, heelers are great dogs, but just as the name says, they are by no means livestock guardian dogs. Lgds are not interested in the animals they guard, though they occasional smell at their butt, as they do with the cats. Though quite sometimes the lay more or less next...

How many eggs can one eat savely?

Luckily we are two and she also eats lots of eggs, but this still leaves us with 5 1/2 up to 10 for each on a daily basis...

How many eggs can one eat savely?

Now, we know about Cholesterol and that its a fake story, invented by the pharmaceutical industrial complex to scae people and sell more prescription drugs. We read about the 88 year old stranger who ate 20-30 eggs daily for 15 years and had excellent health. But then, as almost all of the...

    Livestock guardian dogs

Indeed, our lgds seem to treat about 100 m from each corner of the house as theirs, which is about 10 acres. Though there are zero fences here and luckily no others buildings in that area. The dogs don't go away if we are not home, they stay with the chickens that are free ranging all day. If we...

    Livestock guardian dogs

Indeed, we had the problem when we had only one lgd, after they are two this isn't a big issue, though from time to time they visit the next neighbour.

    Letting chickens forage ONLY?

Though they forage the whole day, they also eat tons of commercial food in addition, we try to limit, but they know for sure they can easily convince her to give them even more of it. You can hardly give the dogs some meat/bones until those lady went sleeping, they will take it away from the...

    Letting chickens forage ONLY?

Our girls forage all day, but they always return to their house to lay an egg. So no losses. Not so much problems with hawks, chicken buzzards can be a treat, but it looks as most are driven away by crows, others by "our" snake eagle. Despite in winter times, he usually pops up shortly before...

    Letting chickens forage ONLY?

Good points! Though the main question is always "qui buono" (who profits)? Who has more to lose? The multi Billion chicken/egg industry or motherearthnews .com, a magazine that covers many topics, in their 2005 egg check they write "Test", that is a bit away from a study! Fom: The Role of...

    Letting chickens forage ONLY?

It is exactly lined out how they did there small pilot study, which might not be totally perfect (but seems to average over 14 flocks), though only the industry has the money to make most studies! As it seems you haven't taken the time to read the article at all, I put the most important...

    Letting chickens forage ONLY?

To sum up, it seems those numbers are from the following articles (multiple pages): Meet Real Free-Range Eggs: http://www.motherearthnews.com/Real-Food/2007-10-01/Tests-Reveal-Healthier-Eggs.aspx The Good Egg: http://www.motherearthnews.com/Real-Food/2005-08-01/Free-Range-Eggs.aspx...

    Letting chickens forage ONLY?

This is a comparison of Nutrients (Nährstoff) - Eggs fom chickens in a cage (Ei aus Käfighaltung) - Eggs from foraging chickens ("Wiesen"-Ei) - Showing the difference (Unterschied) Extreme isn't it and shows how much better chickens do when they can select their food!

The Homesteaders Get A Saw Mill

I am still looking into getting one of these little saw mills you can attach to a chainsaw, which are not very expensive, just for private use to make some timber/shelves when in need? What turned me away until now, you need to dry your made timber/shelves about 2 years before using them as...

Answer to "what's killing my birds????- HELP!!!".

Indeed a real lgd will exactly do that, with whatever they grow up they will protect. Just do a search in Australia this works even with (rare) penguins! They will never rip a chicken and eat it, even if they like eating them if you give them one barbecued, those dogs have no hunting instinct...

Lost a chicken to a dog

Sounds good and really nice from the vet not to charge you! Here most people would have grabbed the next solid stick, beat the chicken to death, rip it apart and quickly barbecue it.
