Hello
I have 14 hens ( of average size- not bantams and not Jersey giants ) Mostly red and black sex links and a few Plymouth rocks as well as a very large Roo (24 lbs)
My question is: My neighbor who has 7 ...only goes thru 1 #50 lb bag of crumble a month plus table scraps and his birds...
Thank you! Didn't think of mold because I use sand not straw and scoop up droppings every morning so I just assumed since the coop never smells that all was well but maybe not! They all free range in a 300 ft enclosure all day so there might be a spot where water collected or pee and got moldy...

Chickens are treats to dogs until you train them otherwise. You don't punish a dog for being a dog!
hahahah ! figured it out!!!! it was crows stealing eggs!!!
I put scarecrow put and hung windchimes by coop door and wallla...eggs left in the coop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wohooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
After thinking on the advice I rec'd here yesterday and checking the yard for nests which I couldn't find I am wondering if hawks or racoons are slipping into the coop during the day and stealing the eggs???
It was suggested that I leave everyone in the coop until all eggs are laid but that...
Love looking at this everyday...builder friend built it to look like it got stuck in the mud on our hill and was abandoned
9 ft high total - coop is 6ft high ( with 3 ft underneath for shelter ) 8 feet in length and 6 feet wide for 14 kids ( right now )
