It takes only a few hours for food to be digested and come out in feces for chickens:

I'd wait a few days to be on the safe side.
I eat eggs every day. I don't react to them. I do not have problems with "cross reactivity" with eggs. The hens are fed a feed that is free of gluten grains and oats. I have only had problems when the hens are fed gluten grains and oats which is what happens in the winter here. Now I...
Here is a study finding that at least in some cases, the problem is contamination: http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?paperID=26626#.U3Nb4oaYnlc
The study is done by the science advisor for the lab that does the cross reactivity testing.
I agree that the study having only 13...
I am pretty sure that cross reactive foods are actually cross contaminated. It hasn't been shown to be otherwise. In fact, one study for corn cross reactivity tested for gluten contamination and found 82 ppm. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1774524/?tool=pmcentrez
I really don't like being treated like I am saying that I was abducted by aliens when I am trying to do things like find eggs that I can eat safely. It really wouldn't be that much of a problem if it weren't for the fact that it can make me and my son very sick when people don't take my...
Contamination of oats with gluten grains is another problem. Avenin intolerance is a problem for many celiacs, and in my opinion, it is more common among more sensitive celiacs.

I'm not sure how new to celiac disease you are, so forgive me if you already know this. I'm looking into gf poultry feed for the same reason. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of people use oats rather than the gf grains. I am one of the 10% or so of celiacs who is also sensitive to oats...
I'm a big baby and not looking forward to doing this. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually. Thanks for the explanation, pics, suggestion of wine first, and jokes. They all make it a bit easier to face.
I just started looking into raising quail yesterday and I was so happy to find this thread. Do you think that quail are better than chickens for food production of meat and eggs? Can you free range them and put them in cages at night? Are they hard to catch? How are they in terms of...
I found your thread looking for people raising quail in the area. I'm in Brighton. Have you made any progress? What about quail? From what I can tell, you get a state permit and that's it.
I guess I should have already have eggs hatching, chicks purchased? We just bought a house near Chicago where we can have chickens and I'm ready to go! Glad I found you. For now, I'm just looking for information to get set up. I'm looking for gluten free, oat free, high omega 3 feed ideas...
I just found this thread. Is anyone still reading and posting? I'm also celiac and have problems with eggs fed gluten grains. I just bought a house in another state where I can have chickens and I'm researching like crazy. Can you guys tell me how it has been with the GF feed. Are your...
