Okay, update! Good news, a city nearby got some little ones in. They now have a 4 little buddies. All I can say is oops, more chickens.
Thanks for the well wishes and help!
The only photogenic chicken I have at the moment! (hence why he is my current profile picture)
Wakka, the silkie cross! Sweetest rooster you'll ever meet and takes a lot of pride in his work.
I love seeing all the awesome photos and chickens!
I know Red Star can vary quite a bit so I assumed they all are such! I'm just curious though since RIR and a couple other breeds can look really similar. All from our local Murdoch's marked as 'pullets.' 3-4 months old, still doing their teen bird sounds!
There are 4 ladies total:

Black Star are so pretty! I have a couple and they have some of the most beautiful feathers. Congrats on your new cuties though!
Funny how one chick really means four new chicks! :highfive:
Hey all! I'm I'm looking for a single chick :lau (maybe two if that's the only option but I don't need more chickens please!) to be a buddy for the single chick that hatched! I want them to have someone to be with while I'm at work. I'm in the Salida area and willing to drive out a couple hours...
Unfortunately our local store isn't stocking chicks at the moment! I'm gonna ask a friend who keeps an eye on chicken things online in our local area as well and see if someone has an accident batch or something.
Also I will check out that thread, thank you so very much for the help and the...
I did a small incubation with only three eggs just to try it out. I know, it wasn't very many!
They all developed most of the way but two didn't make it. I now have one new little two day old friend but I'd like to get them a companion since they will be alone when I'm at work. I'm in Colorado...
A little update. Unless Boco is a pullet showing off some pointy feathers I'm leaning more toward cockrel now.
I'll be posting more pictures as they grow and probably share old ones too! Maybe it can help others get some help with their cuties! :jumpy
I really dig this study! It's so cool they use their wings to pull themselves in and not to fly!
The connections are really cool and I'd encourage anyone to check out a Hoatzin chick (they have little wing fingers) and a Red-Legged Seriema foot (they have a special raptor toe) to see some...
More pictures at 12 weeks! I'm still not 100% sure yet but shape is more hen, feathers have a roo look? I've read Sumatra hens can grow glossy roo feathers sometimes. Also the waddles look so much more red in the picture. They're more of a soft pink yellow with black spots.
The Pheonix (unless...
Thank you so much! I love the silly goobers.
Super delayed but if you want to use it feel free! I love taking those closeups with them right in the camera!
Welcome! I just restarted my chicken journey much like yours! It's been so wonderful being around birds again and I hope you enjoy all your time with them!
Your ladies are lovely!
