6 month old rooster- new raging hormones or true signs of an aggressive bird...

Oh, thank you! The poster was doing severe harm chasing the poor fella around. Just let him be!

Should I separate Rooster from flock while Hens are molting?

I have two young roosters. Heath is a very attentive fellow and takes good care of his flock. Jimmy is an alien, a darling weirdo who doesn't factor into my question. My flock almost all hard molted, but two of them got bullied by the flock and have taken to living separately. They come to...

How long do I leave peepers on?

The above post is very old, and there were/are no answers. I have the same question. How long do you leave them on 'bully birds'? The world wide web is woefully lacking in this information. They do work. The epic battles ceased immediately when I put them on my two aggressive birds.

    Peepers just seem cruel...

I have 2 hens who are just mean, fight for no reason. So I put the peepers on, and lo! no fighting. How long should they stay on? Anyone have any experience with this? I read somewhere they need to be changed every 2 weeks, but is it necessary to go past that? Seems once the order is...

    Warm winter hats for Roosters

This is just wonderful!! I have Brown Leghorns and their combs and wattles are pretty large. I know they'll have trouble in the cold winter here in Washington, and was looking for some kind of hat. I'll be making some of these, and I sure do bless you for sharing!

    Peepers just seem cruel...

Oh, I should add that the 5 Queens are sequestered in a pen. I expect to keep them there for 5 days or so. Maybe this will do the trick? Thank you in advance.

    Peepers just seem cruel...

You seem well informed. I have several hens, 5 Cinnamon Queens 2 Americana's who brutalize one hen. The also don't like to let the younger hens in the flock eat (18 in all). I have heard peepers are a good thing to use when you have meanies. In your experience, do they eliminate aggressive...

    One hen has it hard

Oh, also, what's the opinion about Pinless Peepers?

    One hen has it hard

Ok, latest news, and still some questions. I had poor Gina in the hospital/jail/broody pen for two nights and a day to get her head healed. I let her out today, put some Rooster Booster Peck-no-more on her wee head. All was well throughout the day. Usually the hens rest in the day, so no real...

    One hen has it hard

I got an interesting reply that now seems to be lost (??) about a rooster being essential. Anyone else feel this way? Would the presence of a rooster help stop the Cinnamons from badgering the other birds?

    One hen has it hard

Oh I know. My 5 Queens are just menaces. And yes, they couldn't give a wit about size. I don't have a rooster, but I wish I did. Maybe he could get them under control. Bad birds!!! BAD birds.

Cinnamon Queens have a fair bit of RIR in them. They are all top of the flock, with Linda being number one bird and the meanest of them all. They don't pick on each other, but they do all the others with the exception of the Austrolorps. Meanies, just meanies.

I like this suggestion. I'm heading to the feed store today to get supplies, and I'll look for a bell. The Queens are just bullies. I think I will try to get the farm owner to let me re-home them.

    One hen has it hard

The Queens are just mean ass bullies. And yes, to everyone but themselves and the Austrolorps. They are rotten, just rotten. They beat up the younger Leghorns and have always been mean to the Americanas. So, I really do want them gone...but only to a good home, of course!

    One hen has it hard

That's probably the best solution, but my birds are pastured on some large acreage and separating flocks is nearly impossible. They share one hen house. I am considering re-homing the Cinnamon Queens. They are the trouble makers. IF I can convince the farm owner to let them go.
