    I used a dog run as a coop once but I did not want to spend the money on the pipe connecters so I just drilled holes into the pipe of the dog run and stuck the pvc in the holes... Worked fine.

    Ours used to sleep out on a roosting bar and only go in to lay... Although we are in Santa Barbara where the climate is pretty mild.
