Not sure if she is broody or not BUT I will use that suggestion about putting an egg under her and seeing. I would really like to see her get put to some use since she isn't laying anymore!
Question! So I have a older Silkie that doesn't lay, bought her like that, and I was wanting to do an experiment and put some eggs under her in hopes she will hatch them. Here's why, she spends all her time laying in the nest box that's in the pen. Anyone think it would work?
From my experience, yes it is normal. Since we aren't supposed to open it I will lay my head on the incubator and scratch on the sides to wake them up. lol Just to make sure they are still alive!!

People think I'm nuts but I also have to say I can smell when my eggs are incubating right. lol It's the smell of the sacs when they hatch. I also start smelling them when they are 8-10 days into incubating.
So I recently bought a new incubator and had it running for several days, of which it stayed at a constant temp. After putting the eggs in I noticed the temp. would drop then spike to hot. So I took it back and got another one. So my question is, did this unstable temp. possibly hurt my...
I just had to hatch 20 biddies from my incubator myself. It took ALL day but some were dying in the shell. Not sure what went wrong this time but it was the bloodiest hatching I've ever seen. lol Needless to say all are alive and thriving. When I hatched them I just left the bottom of shell...
