Thank you for the good ideas! I will try them and see how it all works out. When I find one ready to lay I will get her put her in the rollaway nester and put the roost bar up, that will lock her in there. then when she is done I will let her out. But it will be a lot of work as I have 12 hens...
they are one year old, they never went in, all my old chicken did use it, It is 4 feet long the type that the eggs rool out the back so they don't get dirty, there are two places they lay, corners of the house.
I have had chickens lay in the nester for years, my new chickens are one year old and will not get in the nester, they lay the eggs in 2 corners of the hen house. the nester is 4 feet long with the red flaps over the area of the front. all the young chicken do this. The older chickens are gone...
Can some one tell me how to get chickens to lay eggs in the nesters? My chickens are laying the eggs all over the hen house. I have a community nester, about 3 feet off the floor.
I have Blue Laced Red Wyandotte's and Road island white's does anyone know what I would get if I crossed them? The rooster I would use is a Blue laced red and White hen's.
