Follow up questions:
1. for the skirting - 1/2" hardware cloth or 1x2 fencing?
2. skirting buried or on top of ground & pinned down? Seems that a smart animal might see it if on top and work around it.
Thanks,
Don
Thanks for the welcomes everyone.
We were originally going to get 4 chicks and 2 pullets, but decided just to go all in with chicks. Should be getting eggs by about August or so, I figure.

Hello fellow CT folks! I'm in New Fairfield and brand new to chicken keeping. A few of our friends have chickens, and they along with all of the other friendly chicken people have been very helpful.
See you around.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Brand new. Picked up 6 ISA Browns, and 2 Black Sex-links on 3/31. Gave 2 to the local guy from whom we've bought eggs before since 8 is too many for us to start with. (TSC was buy 6 get 2 free, so we figured we'd hook him up...
Thanks Drew.
Sue - is that directed at me?
For the run I'm thinking 6' high out of 2x3s w/hardware cloth (1/2"). Can the "roof" be chicken wire or netting? Or should it be HW cloth?
Hey all -
New to chicken keeping, and new to the site. Have been pecking around a bit, and now have a questions.
So, we decied to start keeping chickens this year. Due to time constraints, we decided to go with a coop kit Summerhawk Ranch XL, with a built add on run.
We're in western CT...
