    I think I do have one dowel that is curtain rod sized. Maybe we'll try that one and see if it works. I'm just realizing that the smaller ones, towel rack sized, won't be holding a full sized chicken comfortably.

    I think we've decided to switch. If the round ones we have were thicker, we may have decided to try them out. I'm convinced they'll be happier with a thicker base to stand on. Afterall, it is where they'll sleep every single night. Gotta keep them happy so they'll lay lots of eggs!

    Thank you so much for all of the feedback. I'm thinking this will definitely be a work in progress type of project for quite some time...even after the chicks occupy the coop. I'm glad the shape of the roost was also brought up. I hadn't really thought that one would be better than the other...

    You know, I have seen mostly flat roosts. We just picked these up at the restore here for cheap and thought they'd be perfect. I'm curious to see what others say about that too. It would be easy enough to change them if necessary. Thanks for your input!
