I've done enough research to realize it could be hundreds of things... I live in Louisiana, it's hot, but the chickens have plenty of shade & water. This is one of my friendly free range bantams, not in the coop, but in a flock of about 6 that cruise the yard and sleep on a shelf by the back...
One of my chickens started with the exact same thing yesterday, which led to doing some research, which also led me here... Probably some sort of sneezing. I'll be following, for this may educate me as well. I'm reading about Coryza in chickens now, some similarities. I noticed my chickens eyes...
Yes, I agree with the partridge brahma cross. I dug around and found this on the net. Did not know this.... Otherwise, the only other obvious scenario, crossed with an Olive Egger or other green egg layer
I purchased them at our local farmers market. I forgot what they were sold as, but I dont remember them being barnyard mixes. She gives me an egg a day, hardly ever has taken the day off. Most of our other hens are brown egg layers, with the exception of a couple of white egg layers, so easy to...
I think you're right on with the partridge brahma. In fact, after googling it, I think the rooster appears to be half partridge brahma as well. The egg color is a very light green like these pictured
Can you help me identify the breed of this hen by appearance alone? I'm pretty sure that I don't have any barnyard mixes in my flock. More likely than not to be a pure, whatever she is... While we're at it, take a shot at the breed of this handsome feller :)
I appreciate the feedback. Yall comments bought Tiger a little more time on this earth...lol I didn't consider separating him temporarily, to possibly mature into a gentleman, and not be a Harvey Weinstein.lol Overall, he's neighborhood friendly, so I hope he does mature. I know every rooster is...
I have a flock of about 30 dual purpose chickens. 25 are standard size, 5 are bantams. 1 of the 5 bantams is my sole rooster. He's a Barred Rock, I call him "Tiger". Just like Tiger Woods, he's black/white with an addiction to mating.lol Tiger is rough on ALL the girls despite his size. I feel...
Thanks for reviving this thread, I have very similar questions, but slightly more complex... Would the outcome be the same as above (aside from size) if the rooster is a Barred Rock (Bantam) and hen is a Lavender Orpington (Standard Size). Would all chicks be bantam, full size, or a random...
Going to see where this goes with the 2 gray (slightly yellowish hue) chicks. Only a few days old, from the TS Bantam bin as well. There was about 10 of these identical chicks in the bin. I know the pics. may be lacking, but this is just for fun. So, what do you think I am...?
They were both the only one of their kind, stuck out like a sore thumb with the black & buff Silkies. I just happened to be there when they brought the chicks out to the display. The only other clean-legged chicks in the bin, were gray with a slightly yellow hue. I brought a couple of them home...
I promised the wife I was done purchasing chicks. I had to make a trip to Tractor Supply for a new pair of fencing pliers, so naturally I left with 6 baby chicks...lol These 2 came from the Bantam bin, only a couple of days old. I initially thought they were a Partridge (brown) & Splash (white)...
