    New owner has a question

It is going very well now. I've been getting 2-3 eggs a day. The chickens are very comfortable now and a lot of fun to have around. :D Thanks for asking!

    found egg outside the coop!

I do have one younger bird at the bottom of the pecking order. I've only had these hens for about three weeks. I thought maybe she was shooed from the nest by one of the other birds. I guess I will put another box in there. Thanks!

    found egg outside the coop!

I found an egg outside the door of the coop this morning. It was still a little warm and had some blood on it. I cleaned it up and put it away. I only have one nest box for the 4 hens. Does this mean whomever layed it couldn't get into the nest box? Should I put in another nest box?

    New hens laying routine

    Feeding schedule?

Hi all, I'm a newbie. I'm wondering about how often and how much to feed the layer pellets. I have 5 RIRs and they are free ranged.

    New owner has a question

Thank you all for the warm welcome and good advice. My "girls" are going in and out of the coop and pen right now. The weather is too hot to keep them in the coop. I notice when they aren't sure, they run back into the coop. They will be free ranged eventually. They are familiar with a nest...

    New owner has a question

Hi everyone. I just adopted 4 RIRs. I've never had chickens before, although I have raised a couple flocks of ducks. My first question is how often should I check for eggs? The previous owner told me they are afternoon layers.
