I think 1 of my chickens are laying these odd eggs. They have a dark line on them that wraps over halfway aound. Egg shell is usually rougher textured also. Is this something to be concerned about? Thanks to any and all who might be able to help.

I had heard from everyone not to even try to hard boil fresh eggs so I didn't even try. Read this and went and tried it! They were PERFECT! Did 1 dozen eggs none more than 3 days old and each one peeled easier than I have ever had them peel!
Thanks so much for the great advice!
My chickens might not eat my Irises but I keep having to bury the rhizomes because they dig them up! It's the only thing planted besides grass in their part of the pasture and i keep having to re bury them! I guess I will have to move them when it cools off!

Thanks
Well just went to check on them after work and 2 had broken and missing feathers. Sooo my brother is coming to get the ones i promised him after we showed at the fair. Hopefully dropping the number to what we should have in the coop will help stop this behavior
thanks again for your help

Thanks Again

My 16 year old daughter took 3 of her Cinnamon queens(sexlinks) to show in the fair. After being there 2 days, 2 of them had pecked a large sore on the back of one of them. We picked them up and brought them home. Separated the injured one from the others and left the leg bands on the 2 that...
Well this is a 4H project and they are the chickens we are required to show. Given to us by the project. They have done this project for several years in our area also. I will try to look up some more information. Thanks.
This was exactly the question I had. My 16 year old daughter joined FFA this year and signed up for a poultry chain project through the county extension agent. We got 25 cinnamon queen chickens through them and have to show 3 of them in the local county fair. Now we are wondering how to decide...
