"I always like to help out a fellow Michigander when I can!" That's great to hear, and thank you very much. I'll message both places and report back once everything is sorted out. Thanks again!
Thank you! That's all I want is for them to have a good life that's as natural as possible. Although I'm going to miss them terribly when they're gone. It's been so much fun learning new things about ducklings and being here for them.
I don't like to give out too much information about my location, but I live 172.9 miles from Monroe County, MI, on the opposite side of the state.
If you were going to look up nearby rehabilitation centers, please don't trouble yourself, as I located a few others that might be able to take them...
Another great piece of advice, thanks! It never even crossed my mind to try Craigslist. Hopefully, it won't come down to that since I was able to locate a few other rehabilitation centers I missed earlier, they might be able to take them in.
Their feed is a non-medicated formula, made 100%...
That's what I was thinking too, that they're not old enough yet. This is good information, thank you! I found a few other rehabilitation centers (don't know how I missed them ), so hopefully, they can take them in.
@blayt90 ''get rid'' sounds so cold, as that's the last thing I want to do, but I want them to have a natural life. I'll give this DFWP a shot, thanks for the suggestion!
I'm currently looking over seven (mallards, I believe?) ducklings. However, I think it would be in their best interest (and mine too, since keeping them is probably illegal: I live in MI) if I release them soon so they have a chance to become the wild waterfowl that they are intended to be...
@Emmaxx Thanks for the information. I did make sure it didn't drink the water. I bathed its leg right after their last meal and it didn't even try to go for the water. I was very thankful because it would've been very difficult otherwise.
@sylviethecochin The only thing I think that could have burnt its foot is the space heater I use to keep them warm. I keep it about 3 feet from them and leave it on low, but if it overheated the wall (it's plastic) of their cage then it's possible, I think.
I'm making some saline water for it...
@ChickenGal1842 Ah, don't worry about it. I appreciate you taking the time look all the same. I hope there's a vet nearby that can tell me if this can be healed.
Hello, I'm new to this forum, so please forgive me if a case like this has already been posted. I searched but didn't find anything similar.
I'm currently caring for 7 baby mallard ducks. They all eat, drink, sleep, and eliminate waste like normal. I've only had them for two days and a half...
