Niacin Deficiencies in Goslings & Ducklings (growth & leg problems)

So far this morning everyone is thriving. All but the little runner duck are walking normal. Her left left leg seems to be turned inward at the knee (First leg joint from the foot). She can walk but not easily. I'm wondering if I should try to fashion some sort of keep the foot in line but I...

Hello, I don't think anyone has posted to this thread in a while but I have to say thank you!!! I have adult ducks already that I've never had a problem with however, I have nine ducklings at three weeks old still in the inside brooder since it's still too chilly here in Idaho for the barn...

Beautiful EE Rooster in need of re-homing

Oh, we've let them know about their dogs who happen to be barking to hear themselves right this minute. Their answer is dogs are meant to be pets and barking is ok, roosters are not. Grrrrr....

Beautiful EE Rooster in need of re-homing

My beautiful EE rooster, Cinnamon is 17 weeks old. He is a sweet boy and take care of his ladies. My neighbors are having a fit over him crowing although their stinkin' dogs bark for hours on end. (I love dogs, I have one, but I don't let him bark for hours on end annoying people). I live...

    Best scenario for my broody?

Hi Cheryl, Long time no talk! Wow! Do you know I was looking at our messages and it was almost a year ago we were talking about you doing meal worms? Time flies! Yes, my broody, Mabel, hatched two out of 17 eggs. I have two frizzled feathered chicks that are eight weeks old now. One is...

Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Thought I'd post an update on my babies. They are two weeks old this today and Thursday. They are so stinkin' cute but it's different for me since my first three depended on me as "mommy." These two run to my barred rock, Mabel. Loving watching them grow and Mabel take care of them. Been...

Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

I have two babies so far! Myrtie & Alice. I'm staying with my ancestor theme and naming my new chicks after my Great g-mas. They are so cute! I lost one egg that got tossled around. I think the chick was already dead because the yolk hadn't been absorbed. We'll see if anymore hatch!

Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

My new baby seems to be doing good. Except Mabel (Momma) keeps pecking her at times. I'm not sure if she's scolding her to get under her or what? She talks to the new baby a lot, too. I was going to throw away the rest of the eggs this morning and decided to move Mabel & baby down to the...

Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Thanks Johnn, I was thinking I would wait until mid-day when it is warmer. I'm in the Sierra Nevada foothills in California and it's cooler this morning. I figure it needs to be warmer just in case one has hatched or is pipping. I don't hear any peeping at all, is that normal?
