    I don't know what happened. I talked him out of moving her, but she kicked the eggs out of the nest and moved to sit on the eggs that were laid by the other girls this morning. She's a young Cochin. They just started laying early this spring. Maybe it's her inexperience, or my husband's noise...

    I have a hen sitting. My husband just built a new nesting box. Now he wants to move the eggs to the new box and take the old nest box out. How will that affect the hen and her eggs? She has been sitting for about 2 weeks.

    Tell your son to put some electrolytes in the water. It will help the chickens recover quickly from stress of shipping. He can get electrolytes at a feed store or Walmart.

    I think your vet may not know a lot about chickens. There is a good article on coccidiosis and amprolium in BYC entitled "Treating Coccidiosis with Corid, Amprol, Ampromed - The Correct Dose." I did a search on Google to find the article. I'm not sure how to find it in BYC. Maybe use the search...

    I need some advice on how to help my chick

    If he is cuddling to your hand, I would fix a small box, like a shoe box with a soft cloth or baby blanket so it surrounds him, like mama would. Maybe add a ticking watch or clock. If he's being comforted, that way, it may help him heal naturally.
