UPDATE: My roosters were adopted, but I was within a week of taking them down to Eden's Cove so they could help me process them. While they're not exactly in the DFW area, they were the closest place I could find. Fran's Fryers did respond to my inquiry, but they do not do private processing...
I've got 2 roosters that need to be processed. Eden's Cove is 3 hours away, and if Fran's Fryers won't do roosters I'm out of options (plus I'm not completely sure I can do it myself). Does anyone have any other suggestions? I see that this thread is 2 years old, so i thought some new ones...
Thanks annanimal!
vtguania, they are Rhode Island Reds, and yep, the tail feathers on that one are what have me concerned. I have a Buff Orpington rooster I'm trying to rehome now....2 if this RIR turns out to be a rooster too.
I bought 4 "pullets" from a guy in Oak Cliff and at least 2 of them have turned out to be roosters. I obviously need to rehome at least one of them. He's about 16 weeks old, has been fed organic feed, and pasture raised in a pesticide free acre for the last 3 months.

:( So far they're all great together as a flock, but I only bought 4 chicks, and 2 of them have turned out to be roosters!!! One very expensive Williams Sonoma coop, 3 months of organic feed, and lots of time and energy later I'm wondering if i'm going to get any eggs at all.
I kind of wonder how much nutritional value the pulp has after you've squeezed the juice out. I use a manual, masticating (wheatgrass technically, but it handles just about everything) juicer so it's still pretty moist, but I'm not sure I'd make food for the family out of it.
