I wasnt ready for mine to start and it's been a shot show, I was totally not prepared. No nesting boxes or anything. We got a bigger coop when winter was breaking but I didnt think I'd have to worry till spring either. Thanks God for this group of people.
I do not want more chicks. My coop is too small for more. 2 eggs were definitely laid in one day. I had the other 5 marked. Only one male and female watch over them.
It's in their window. I put the light on before dark and turn it goes off an hour later. It's also hooked up to their water heater so if its freezing temps I turn it on before work and it goes off 4 hours later.
There were 2 new ones yesterday. I dont think others are laying but I would not stake my life on it. I cleaned out the entire coop and put new bedding in so I didnt miss any.
I took the advice and marked 5 that I leave in there. Today she has them all buried so I couldnt see any new ones.

I bought a nightlight and put that in the window (ran an extension cord out and use a timer). Works great. I was using a battery operated lantern which also worked but I like the timer.

I tallied my eggs today and it reached an even 40 on 2/19 and I'm in South Jersey.
I'm not sure if one laid them all or it's a combination of the females since I suck at this.
I brought them all in but 5 last time after R2 told me to. I believe they are all still edible. I do not want anymore chicks lol.
