Hello, My name is Marsha. I am new to the chicken world. I have always loved chickens and have never had the time nor the opportunity to have my own. This year I have finally been able to make that dream come true. I am almost 36 yrs old. I am married and have 3 lovely children. My step son is almost 19, my oldest daughter is 16 and I have a 9 year old daughter as well. We currently live on about a 1 acre lot. We have two large dogs that are our outside friends and will be some protections for my new chickens. I have a 5 yr old fluffy gray and white cat named Halo that likes to keep to herself. I have a 4 year old Peekapom named Jeter that is like my shadow and loves his mommy very very much. We also have two fancy rats named Olive and Remy that have helped my youngest daughter tremendously with her ADHD. And now we have 8 wonderful new baby chicks. I am pretty sure that I am going to have 6 hens and 2 roos but we will just have to wait and see for sure. We decided to go with the following breeds that are docile so that we can basically have pet egg laying chickens that we can get in the yard with and have fun. 2 Barred Rock, 2 Buff Orpington, 2 Silver Laced Wyandotte and finally 2 Cinnamon Queens.
