I raised these for my fish but with fish you have to crush the heads of the worms so they don't chew through the fish's gut.
My question is do I have to do this for my chickens?
I LOVE this breed. As a first time chicken owner I started out with 6 TS buff chicks. I managed to pick 5 girls and 1 boy. I found a home for the boy and kept my girls. Well needless to say the following Spring I hatched my first English Orpington who turned out to be a Buff roo on Super Bowl...
I just got my 3 Roman Tufted goslings on Friday. 2 girls and 1 boy. First time raising geese. I have English Orpingtons and Red Dorking chickens with a few ducks. Will be following this to make sure things go well with Ralph, Alice and Trixie.
So I just came up to go to bed and did my nightly check on the eggs and to my surprise one Dorking egg and the Cochin/Buff Orp egg have pipped! A every now and then there is a chirp! This is day 19! Now I won't be able to sleep!
Lockdown initiated, 72 hours and counting! 11 Red Dorking, 1 Olive Egger/Orpington cross and 1 Cochin/Orpington cross. Candles all and have 12 babies cruising around but the darkest egg can't even see in. Can't wait till Friday!
my hen decided to hatch out some kids about 5 weeks ago. Had no clue she was even sitting until I got a picture from my husband of the proud new mom and the just hatched babies. She waited all day for someone to come home so she could show them off.
Set 15 Red Dorking eggs (Did not think my roo was doing his job) well he was! Out of 15 I have 11 set to hatch on the 10th. I threw in one Olive Egged x English lemon Buff Orpington and 1 Cochin x English Lemon Buff Orpington. Lock down is on Tuesday!
I like them to but not being able to enjoy the pond that's different. I think we'll bring the back hoe home and dig out the creek maybe they'll go down there. We have a lot of land to bring back under control after it being left to do it's thing for 10 years.
