Now I am suspecting wry neck? Roo is turning head almost upside down and laying on the floor sprawled out. I bought some “Rooster Booster” to shock supplement vitamins and selenium. Hoping for improvement but so far, none, 10 hours after first dose was given. Any more ideas? I really would not...
I have a 7 week old Buff Brahma roo who was lethargic and drowsy, 2 weeks ago. I treated with egg yolk, sugar water, and Corid. He recovered after 24 hours, 2 weeks ago. Then, he began showing the same, lethargic, drowsy symptoms a week later. I’ve treated with the same thing, egg yolk, sugar...

Thats kind of why I’m asking this question...to see if there’s any other info out there other than what I heard about in some farmers back 40. Specifically if there is any benefit for poultry.
Yeah it is pretty expensive...$300/yd where I’m at. But the rag tag experiment I saw with cows was pretty cool. 100 in one pen fed the regular diet. 100 in another pen fed the same feed, but with 4% Bio Char mixed in. The Bio Char cows consistently brought 30% more at the sale. Cows have...
Has anyone ever heard of or tried incorporating Bio Char in with their poultry feed? If not Bio Char specifically, any experiences with charcoal? I’ve just recently seen incredible results with beef cattle, and have access to some product, but am wondering if anyone else has actually tried it.
Thanks for the help! What’s a good, cool temp; 50-60F? And do I need to turn the eggs and if so, how often? I’d like to keep my sales local and requested a lead time before orders to make sure they are picked fresh.
I’d like to sell some hatching eggs, but want to make sure I’m collecting and storing them right. What is the best way to collect, clean, and store hatching eggs so I don’t harm the embryos and end up with happy customers? Also, how long can you store hatching eggs? Thanks!
The best rooster I ever had was a black star named Happy. I could lay him up on a basketball rim and he would stand there and start crowing! He had some serious personality, was never mean, and was gorgeous. The hens were great too. A lot of people will tell you that they are bully’s, but you...
Can anyone recommend a good source for these? Either for hatching eggs or chicks. I know certain hatcheries carry them from time to time but the coloring seems a little off on those. Thanks!
They are really nice birds, very gentle. They can be a little prone to broodiness, but actually, right now in CO, they are keeping right up with my Rocks and Wyandottes.
I really recommend sex links and Plymouth rocks. To add to your confusion, have you considered New Hampshire reds? All of these are excellent egg layers in the winter, hardy, and all in all easy to care for.
