    Mice carrying away chicken eggs

We noticed the other day that our broody chicken's eggs went missing! After some investigation, we found a family of mice scurrying away when we lifted some old pipes. Tomorrow we are planning on moving those pipes away, but is there anything we can do to thoroughly get rid of these mice, or at...

Chickens laid two eggs but aren't broody

Our chickens just laid two eggs (don't know which one of them did the laying), and though there's a chance those eggs might be fertile since we keep a rooster, none of those chickens are broody. What should we do? Is it best to simply eat those eggs?

Are there any at-home solutions to making your coop smell good (e.g. peroxide)?

Is there a way to make a chicken coop smell good without going out of the way to purchase special products? For example, can I use peroxide instead of oxine to cleanse the coop?

Do your chickens recognize your face, your voice, or both?

I was wondering if you all had some stories about chickens recognizing their humans. I have yet to "test" my chickens for recognition myself :D

Tips for catching and trapping foxes?

I've been seeing foxes around my property, but I haven't been able to run fast enough to catch them. In addition, near the chicken coop, I can smell that gamey, gross smell that foxes leave behind, so I know that they are trying to get in. Do you have any tips on catching foxes? Perhaps...

    Help with chicken not drinking

To get chickens to drink, I usually dip their beaks in the water so they "discover" it. Even then, they might be reluctant to drink from the waterers (especially if they're tall), so I sometimes set water for them inside plastic plates. As they get older, they'll probably get used to the large...

Is it okay for chickens to eat bushes and evergreen pine needles?

I let my chickens roam around my front yard from time to time, and they seem to have a strange interest in my bushes and evergreens. I read online that chickens tend not to eat the spiky pine needles, since they are not interested in them, but mine are. Do you think there's anything unhealthy...

Chicken is hiding in a bush and won't come out!

Hooray! I'm not sure if it was a combination of all of your advice, but the chicken decided, for some reason, to take a nighttime nap right outside the bush. We grabbed her, gave her a drink of water, and everything is alright.

Chicken is hiding in a bush and won't come out!

Thanks. I tracked where she's hiding for the night. In a few minutes, I'll go grab her.

Chicken is hiding in a bush and won't come out!

Aargh! So close! I grabbed another hen (well-known for being a loud squawker) and waved her around, and the hiding chicken slowly emerged from the bush and even started eating our snacks -- and promptly ran back inside the bush!! any other tips? edit: clarity

Chicken is hiding in a bush and won't come out!

Hi all, One of my pet chickens has hidden inside a bush by the forest and won't come out! When we try to approach her from behind, she just moves to another bush. It's getting dark, and I don't want her to get eaten. Is there a way for me to snatch her up and put her in the coop...
