Red bottom, losing feathers, but no discharge/runny poop

They get Poulin Grain Layer Pellets, Henhouse Reserve, scratch grain with soldier fly larvae, and whatever kitchen scraps we might have (for example tomorrow they are getting leftover rice, peas, and corn). Recently they have not been able to free range due to the avian flu running rampant near...

Red bottom, losing feathers, but no discharge/runny poop

Hi - I have an 8 month old Buff Brahma named Helen who has a very inflamed looking bottom. She has feathers missing, and it looks as though it could be a bit swollen. She is acting like herself, eating and drinking. I am not sure if she is laying, but will make note the next few days. I went out...

    Sapphire Gem pullet or roo?

Update - she’s about 10 weeks. We are still thinking “she” is a pullet, right?

    Sprouted Lentils for Chicks

I tried sprouting lentils for the first time, and had pretty good success (it wasn’t exactly hard lol). Can I give these to ~5 week old chicks? Answers across the internet vary. They do get chick grit when needed.

    Bantam Chick - Stumped

That’s what I have been thinking. Hoping I am wrong though, as I love the look of “her” but can’t have a rooster where I live! Here are a couple more photos from today with good lighting. Maybe it’s not looking red? Definitely is a larger comb though…

    Sapphire Gem pullet or roo?

I hope so! I had read somewhere it could be a head spot OR wing spot, so I second guessed myself.

    Sapphire Gem pullet or roo?

Got this ~4 week old Sapphire Gem chick from TS, and truly thought it was a pullet at first. As it’s grown though, I’m beginning to second guess. I don’t recall it having a white mark on its head when we first got it, but maybe on its wings? She also looks different from the other Sapphire Gem...

    Bantam Chick - Stumped

I got a bantam chick from TS, and I think it is a Mille Fleur d’Uccle. What I am not sure is if it’s a male or female. The chick is ~4 weeks old. I was going with female, but it made a slight crow sounding noise and its comb looks like it might be turning slightly reddish, so now I am unsure...
