Keeping the neighbor's chickens out of my yard

I was holding back my true feelings. I thought this channel was to give and receive knowledge about chickens and not a place for someone to throw abuse. I will in future keep my opinions to myself.

Keeping the neighbor's chickens out of my yard

You obviously have been too busy to bother training your mutt. I resent your absurd comment. Just because my opinion and experience differs from yours, it doesn't deserve your attitude.

Keeping the neighbor's chickens out of my yard

Fences can be electric if they are plain wire, have danger-electric signs attached that are readable from both sides and are not positioned on the front boundary. Dogs can be trained to not cross a boundary with kindness and rewards so a 3wire fence or less will do the job. The original poster...

Keeping the neighbor's chickens out of my yard

I'm admitting that a wooden fence 6feet high to keep the neighbors chooks OUT would be a very expensive option but she only needs a low fence maybe 3feet high to keep her new dog IN. Short posts (called Star pickets in Australia) with 3 horizontal wires to establish a boundary for the dog will...

Keeping the neighbor's chickens out of my yard

Is it common for homes in the USA to be unfenced? Perhaps we should ask her if she has any dividing barrier between her place and the neighbors. The chickens will quickly learn the dog nextdoor is to be avoided. I can't imagine how a pound puppy that will do its job 24/7 for the price of a bowl...

    Why can a broody......

The misunderstanding was mine totally. I read the post that said "poor little chicks and ducks panting at TSC". At the time I didn't know what a TSC was. Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. Your inside brooder is a very clever idea.

Keeping the neighbor's chickens out of my yard

Go to the dog shelter and get a companion for your existing 🐕 dog. Choose an active one and if it doesn't come naturally then teach it to chase chickens. Four wins. Companion for you and your frail dog, the chickens won't be back, you've saved a dogs life and you didn't have to pay for a fence.

Keeping the neighbor's chickens out of my yard

I've read some of the advice given to you about your problem ranging from catching the invaders and eating them to giving them to one of your friends or calling the authorities to deal with the problem. You seem to like dogs but the one you have is too fragile to do what I'm suggesting. Go to...

    Why can a broody......

I don't know what your brooder looks like but if the chicks are getting too hot and can't escape to a cooler spot, why don't you just raise the heat source and control the heat on the chicks that way.
