Review: Wi-Fi Enabled Automatic Chicken Coop Door by JVR

You installed this incorrectly. It should be installed inside the coop itself. I have several of these and even with temps in the negatives and feet of snow all of our JVR doors open perfectly. No water issues. It only takes about 20 min to set up too. These doors are perfect imo.

Review: Wi-Fi Enabled Automatic Chicken Coop Door by JVR

I have had this door for a long time and I love it!!! Not one complaint and no issues with the freezing temps here in New England, US. I bought a solar setup for it and it's flawless. I bought a second one but without solar and it works exactly the same with my Wi-Fi. Timer works perfect and if...

How can you hit a vein while assist hatching? Aren't veins inside of the chicks body?

Think of the shell membrane as a human placenta. :) It is like a buffer between them and the external shell (or human skin). Once it's ready to hatch and pips the chick absorbs all the blood that's in those veins and the yolk nutrients are fully absorbed and it makes its way into this world :)

    Unhealed/unabsorbed yolk?

I too am going through the same thing. Momma accidentally crushed the egg and I successfully hatched. But she had poked a tiny bloody hole and after hatching I noticed this the next day. I'm on day 2 with baby. Has energy. But I am at a loss on how to seal it and feel bad it's all alone in the...

Killing my chicken humanely with medication

I know this thread is old. But I was looking for the same info and came across the article I'll link below. I could not break my chickens neck, nor let anyone else do something I'm not ok with myself. I am planning to use a high dose (well high for a chicken) of left over specific prescription...

    Sick Chick

Next time if the antibiotics don't work, ask for Sulfatrim from your vet. It's a broad-based antibiotic. Not every disease is going to respond, as you know, to the same antibiotic. Some need different ones.

    VetRX dosage help!!

I know this is old but I'm going to post because I feel bad for all the people that think that RX is going to cure whatever their chickens have. Also there are essential oils in it and too much essential oils can do the opposite to any person or animal so I would be leery on a baby chick...

My Chicken Has Blue Eyes - Does Yours?

I have a several with beautiful blue eyes. I'd be willing to have some dominance testing. I just don't know how.

    Sand in coop

That looks like beach sand. Washed sand of various sized pebbles would work better. That's too fine.

    Sand in coop is wet.

    Why not use a dehumidifier?

    Closed eyes

Shes still the same. Well more energy at the moment. I bought Tylan just not sure if I should give it orally or injected. I called over 15 vets today. No one does chickens. Smh.

    Closed eyes

I just got my baby chicks 2 days ago. One of my baby chicks appear to have a bum leg. Then it was two bum legs. Not spraddle a leg. And not a slip tendon (I don't think). The legs are getting better. My problem is in the mornings when this little one wakes up her eyes stay shut. Well, the 1st...

Now that I'm not sick and can think straight lol. Yes definitely close. I guess I'll be giving half of my sunroom away now. 🤦🏽‍♀️

BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

I'm building a 6' x 2.5' brooder. We initially set to get 12 chicks, and with my perfect chicken math we will have 21 coming at the end of the month. Will that be big enough for the next 8-10 wks if most are bantam?
