    Rumpless Ameraucana

    I bought 12 Ameraucana's from Orschelns (kinda like tractor supply but way more farm/ranch) I ended up with this beauty. She didn't want to sit still. Can an Ameraucana be rumpless or is she an Araucana?

    I used side cutters on the hardwire cloth, to cut out the hole. To close it it is 2 peices of scrap wood big enough to cover the hole it's janky but it works.

    I start to integrate around 5 to 6 weeks. The chicks have a safe space where the older can't get them, with chick size pop doors and I let them integrate themselves.

    New additions

    Growing our flock by 30 this year. 12 Americauns, 11 Black Jersey Giants and 7 Sapphire Gems. The Jersey Giants are giving us another step closer to self sufficient on our little homestead.

    I keep my bucket in the fridge... no flies or smell... more then the leftover scrambled eggs I tossed in. Less risk of mold if I forget to take it to them for a day or two. I have a 4 and 2 yr old, I can be forgetful.

    There is a few things to consider, how many hens how long have they been laying. Anytime my egg count is down multiple days in a row I start looking for a hidden next.
