Chicken-safe mulch?
I'm not sure what would work but I can tell you that chopped straw will be turned into nests. My girls will lay eggs anywhere and everywhere they can.- dparadise

feeding pumpkin to chickens?
The chicks won't care, mine will peck a hole in the side and start eating there or you can cut it in half or 1/4ths and give it to them that way. For the first time, you might want to cut it open.- dparadise

Did they eat a rotten egg?
I found that they will eat almost anything, mine steal bones from the dogs and then fight over them! The only thing that they don't seem to like is uncooked broccoli and carrots.- dparadise

Maria seems ok so far with her 3 babies, the only problem so far is that 1 chick always seems to be left behind when they go back in the nestbox for the night. We used a board to make a little ladder for the chicks but momma has changed boxes again! It seems that she doesn't want any eggs in the...- dparadise
