The last and final step in adopting a dog from the human society is inspection and approval by the local chicks.

    Egg Carton Problem

I have two hens that are laying HUGE eggs like that and not double yolkers! I couldn’t believe they were a single yolk when I first started getting them!

Constructing my bachelor pad today! My cockerels are behaving very poorly toward the pullets so they are getting their own place until they mature a bit. Thanks for the helpful discussion!

The American Cemani Breeders Club...open forum

Just got my first AC birds yesterday and got them settled in last night. Found a breeder in my state of IL and drove 2 hrs to get them yesterday. People around here think I’m nuts, lol! I saw the parents, beautiful roo and hens. Love the temperament of these juveniles already. Got them home and...

    Large....I mean LARGE Light Brahma

I have a large 5 month old cockerel who is going to be a big boy! He’s still really scrawny but by far the tallest bird I have. He’s Hatchery stock, from McMurray but the light hens I got with him are also fairly large. I have a good sized 3-yr old Rhode Island Red roo, and this guy is going to...

Oh my goodness.. my Roo's are rapists.

Thank you for the very wonderful and helpful information!!! All of my cockerels except one, my Blue Andalusian, Sparky, who is very well-mannered will be going to a bachelor pad that I am constructing today. I have a Brahma in isolation currently after his poor behavior the past two days.

    Mystery fertile egg in yard

https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/do-squirrels-steal-eggs.268163/ Maybe trying to carry back to a nest? I just found this thread that talks about squirrels and rats carrying off eggs. I have seen a squirrel carrying a tennis ball before!

    Mystery fertile egg in yard

Oh, I must have missed that detail! So it sounds like you have some form of bandit....any likely suspects? I have had my dogs play with eggs before, also wonder if a possum or the like wouldn’t carry one away?

    Mystery fertile egg in yard

If an egg goes bad I have had my hens kick it out of the nest. So maybe kicked out and then other birds got to playing with it and rolled it away?

Egg smells funny, is it bad?

From what I know you are right on sulfur. Potentially something the bird ate. Also, I always crack eggs in a small dish first before adding to anything! This has saved so many mixes and batters!
