I don't have any extra hen's right now.
We should have some poults and eggs available in the spring for pick up only and perhaps after we've got more on the ground in the spring we would part with a laying hen.
Do you have any pic's of your Tom Rs?
I'd be curious to see some other BSW's.
Thanks doc.
Keep us updated when, where you publish your article.
That would be an interesting read.
Are there any of the Ames line available anywhere?
I know someone in Ca has them but believe they are only being used for market birds.
Since your from there maybe you know more?
Jim
Just thought I'd post an update with a pic of some of the birds I hatched from J Poole eggs. My wife is very happy with them and they are mischievous. Never ending source of drama for sure. They like to wander off ! Trying to figure out if the one tom we have left has taken out the competition...
Sorry didn't see the reply.
I found him on ebay

I've had some country ham that was like that. Makes you drink a lot of water.
Not sure on what to do with it maybe use it in other dishes like others have said.
Good luck DM. I just finished a batch of shipped turkey eggs and ended up with 15 poults off 2 dozen and feel that was really good.
I also tested my first BR egg from birds I got last year From Jeremy. It was fertile but quit somewhere along the way. I think they may be too small yet(eggs).
Just hatched eggs from Jerry Poole and am very pleased. He packs egg's better than I've ever seen and ended up with 15 poults from 24 egg's. Pretty good percentage on shipped egg's.
I thought I'd add in here on taste of these birds as I butchered my cull rooster and he was roasted last night. Flavor is EXCELLENT. Never had a chicken taste that good and I can see why these birds won a taste test. I followed the recipe on Good Shepard site but think the temp is a little high...
Anyone with these birds having problems with them laying in nest boxes. Mine just started laying and are hiding eggs and not laying in the nest boxes. I do have one older hatchery type hen that should be showing them the ropes and at least is laying eggs in the nest boxes so there is bait eggs...
