    Dumbest Things People Have Said😂😱

I'm pretty much only into ice cream for the toppings. Extra awesome if there is a waffle cone or cookie or brownie underneath. Also, ice cream cookies!

Ummm, the world doesn't work that way...plenty of cruelty is legal. "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" was the basis of the code of law...

Where to give away my rooster?

I lived in Hawaii and chickens "lived in the wild" in the same way feral cats did. They looked mangy, stringy, and quite scraggly. Wouldn't wish that life on anyone/anything.

my experience with ordering chicks through purely poultry

I'm a bit surprised you were able to find a local breeder with stock -- most places i know have been a bit tapped out due to the high demand this year! Sounds like you have a few options at least. Good things don't come easy, but I bet it will all work out eventually.

Official BYC Poll: Do You Feed Your Chickens Cicadas?

My chicks are too young! They were hunting cicadas when they were two days old and then I had to rush in some chick grit. I worried about the hard exoskeletons. No obvious health impacts overall.

    Too many cicadas?

I have young chicks and found it impossible to keep them from eating cicadas! Had to feed them chick grit within their first few days. Stopped taking them outside...glad this isn't a yearly thing.

my experience with ordering chicks through purely poultry

I definitely recommend farm pickup if you can -- Deer Run Farm in Maryland was just an hour away for me and it was a great experience. All my chicks seem far less stressed than the stories posted about mail order shipments.

    Chick with messy bottom?

If they all had strange poo when you first got them it was likely the merconium.

    Chicks won’t leave the heater?

I had a similar setup (basement at 66 degrees/dogs upstairs) and my chicks are likely the same age as yours. Had a similar concern with them staying huddled under brooder, but they were day old babies and seemed to sleep a lot those first few days. Each day they grew more active. Hope you...

Chickens are growing so big! There's just something about new feathers that makes them look like mini football players, especially as they are running around outside.

    Chickens are pet dinosaurs

We had chickens last year, rented. Loved them as pets, they were a riot. My husband and I are really looking forward to building a great coop for at least eight hens this year. A couple fellow backyard-chicken coworkers recommended this site for ideas and advice.
