Would anyone be interested in a Blue Andalusian rooster? He was our free mystery chick from McMurray, and we live in town. When the neighbors want to open their windows in the spring, he's going to become a major problem. He's not particularly aggressive, but is a bit flighty.
He's...
I love Buff Orpingtons around my kids. They are just so sweet. One of ours likes to jump up on my lap and cuddle. If I put my arm out, she'll jump right up and ride around on my shoulder. I just love them! Very gentle.
We have a flock of pullets that are really just pets, and I'm not sure I could ever eat them. They aren't even laying age yet, so we haven't considered what is going to happen when they stop laying. I'm trying not to think about it.
We are planning to raise meat birds next year, in a separate...
My blue andalusian is 10 weeks old, and we are still waiting. I am excited about hearing him, but at the same time, we DO live in town, so the longer he is silent the better! We have no restrictions on having roosters, but I don't want my neighbors to hate me either.
I live on 1.5 acres, and we are in town. Our houses are fairly close together. I don't let my chickens free range, not because my neighbors would necessarily object, but because we live too close to a couple of businesses and because some of my neighbors have dogs (and poorly behaved...

Any...
I'm actually a little relieved to hear that the size is due to the specific breeding for that. I have McMurray hatchery birds, and I am hoping my buffs do NOT get as big as the ones at the fair. Those Buff Orpingtons at the Union Fair were enormous!
For showing, we may start looking around...
Thanks for the replies. I'm still holding out hoping she's a girl. I wasn't all that concerned about her comb --- I'm more concerned about those pointy tail feathers. **Crossing my fingers**
I'm hoping we'll get some eggs from this darling, but I'm suspecting NOT. Wish I had gotten better pics, but this one doesn't stay still long. This is my McMurray free rare. He or she is 7 weeks old.
