Is it normal for Turkens to be this large at 4 weeks?

Hello. I am just checking in to see if your turkens have started laying yet and if so, what color are the eggs.

    Chicken herb garden -3rd time’s a charm 🤞🏼

If it's not chicken dust, it's something else. I always wash our produce and herbs before using. If you know how to grow a pristine garden please share your secret.

    Chicken herb garden -3rd time’s a charm 🤞🏼

Since we have water out there via misters, I wanted to see if I could have something grow besides weeds. I know that herbs can be good for chickens and I use them in my cooking. We also have a large garden, high fence so the chickens can't get to it, and I keep my annual herbs closer to the...

    Chicken herb garden -3rd time’s a charm 🤞🏼

Last year I decided to plant some herbs, mint and sage, next to my chicken coop. They were watered all summer with the misters installed on the coop. It started off OK but then the girls decided to dirt bathe near the roots and killed everything but the sage, or so I thought. The mint came...

Your black turken looks like 2 of mine, like she’s wearing a striped scarf. So cute!

At 6.5 weeks they are still the same size as my other birds. Two of the four are pure black and two now have this other coloring that makes it looks like they are wearing scarves. Good luck, everyone.

Here they are at one week old. Not the greatest picture, but you can see mine are black and are the same size as the other chicks so far. I had not noticed the little yellow underneath before so maybe things will change.

 They are one week old now, so I will see if that happens with my birds too. You mentioned you were concerned your birds might have been cross bread, but I’m not seeing any yellow coloring on mine so maybe that’s the difference? TBD

Is it normal for Turkens to be this large at 4 weeks?

I am following this thread because I just got four turkens from tractor supply and they are the same size as the chicks I got from our local feed store, different hatchery. Mine are all black and so far are the same size. Did yours start out the same size?

    Deeply ridged eggshell

My oldest hen started laying corrugated eggs this spring, which is her third laying spring. I don’t think she is sick or has a gland issue, My theory is it’s maybe because she is a production breed like your cinnamon queen. The eggs are fine, but the shell is so thin that they often break in the...

    Older Water Jared eggs

I was wondering if it was just me who had runny yolks. When I have seen water glassed eggs posted, the eggs look as if they were new. I stored as few as a dozen in a jar, and as many as several dozen (all fresh, clean and with bloom intact), and they all turned out like the picture. Mine taste...

How do you all keep track of you eggs to date? (Poll)

I use Mother Hen app. It lets you track eggs by color and your flock members as well as sales and purchases. It’s a little outdated, but it’s what I started with, so I’ve stuck with it.

Is there a way that you can incubate eggs with out getting roosters

I read about an old wives tale that rounder eggs produce females and pointy ones males but I’ve never experimented 🤷🏻‍♀️

    She just did it!!!

She’s a white leghorn, about 10 months old, and is a great layer. Enjoy your birds!

    She just did it!!!

Congratulations on your first egg! As far as it being brown, I had always heard that if your bird has red earlobes, she will lay brown, and if she has white earlobes, she will lay white. I've included a picture of my hen Sugar who looks similar to yours but with white earlobes. This theory isn't...
