we've take a chain link dog pen (8x10x10) and wrapped the bottom and top with chicken wire with a 2' apron outside on the ground. Does anyone know if a fisher cat can get through the holes in the chain link? Should we wrap the whole pen in chicken wire? The girls are outside during...
I did the extension cord thing for a closed oil radiator when it was REALLY cold - had it in a wire cage so the girls didn't get up on it and burn their feets.
For lighting, there are really neat solar lights - with on/off switches as well as motion sensors and photo eyes so they don't come on...

I feed my girls meet, but make sure to rake the pen clean that night so as not to attract bad things.
Also - you don't put meat or dairy into a compost pile because it makes the pile go anareobic and stink, which also draws in critters you don't want...
What I Won't feed the girls are egg...
