"must be sold on the premises where the flock is located" We have egg chickens that aren't laying yet, but we intend to sell some of our eggs once we have them. Does this mean that I can't sell them to people I work with? That they would have to come to my house to get them? Or does this just...

    Quick Slaughter question

We bought a Power Plucker and were very disappointed. We started with almost 100 chickens and did half of them using this. It took forever and we still had to spend a lot of time plucking by hand afterwards. We finally gave up and bought a Starpluck. We are hoping to get the rest of them done...

We are new to chickens and are hoping to get our egg layers outside soon, as they are currently in the house. I'm posting pictues of our coop to see what people think in regards to security. We just finished putting this fence up earlier this week. It's 5' high with no overhead cover. The...

Thanks, Sylvester! Living in a small town definitely has it's advantages. Even though we live in city limits, we have 1.5 acres and our backyard ends at the corn field. We moved to this area 6 months ago and were very lucky to find this property.

If you don't want to make your own, you can get one on Amazon, although it is a little more expensive. http://www.amazon.com/Chicken-Plucker-Drill-Attachment/dp/B007MEZHFA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398907854&sr=8-1&keywords=chicken+plucker

How did the first time butchering go? That's the one aspect of this whole thing that has me a bit nervous.

Concrete - good or bad run floor?

We are using a concrete floor covered with a thick layer of straw. It seems to work well and it's easy to clean. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Mouse & Rat Control

Thank you. We went ahead and got metal trash cans to stick the feeders in at night. We didn't have an infestation, so this is purely prevention. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Mouse & Rat Control

Hello everyone, I am new to the site and new to raising chickens. I have a question about keeping mice and rats out of the feed. We just moved our meat chickens out to the coop this weekend and are hanging them with chains. I have been thinking about just raising the feeders out of the reach...

    Hello From West Central Illinois!

Hello BYC community! I am new to the chicken world as this spring is the first time I have owned chickens. It's been quite the experience so far. My wife is also a member of this forum, but I'm unsure of her user name. We currently have 100 meat chicks (Cornish Cross) and a variety of egg...
