We hatched our own eggs this year- so much fun. We are going to keep one roo and butcher the rest- but its so hard to decide which one to keep 😂
all three of these came from blue eggs from the same local gal - supposed to be prairie bluebells… the red roo is probably who we are keeping … the...
here are some updated photos! She's still got me completely stumped. she's definitely got a rose comb- so i believe she is a wyandotte- but which one? It reminds me more of a silver laced- not a gold laced... thoughts? Shes a genetic mess IMO but she's sweet as anything and has a cute little...
It does have sturdier legs than the other chick- thicker and overall taller stature. Agreed it is early to tell- but they are quite different for being from the same hatching group.
i’ve got two blue english orp chicks in my brooder. we hatched most of our own eggs this year but picked these up at the farm store along with some leghorns.. i think we’re approaching 3-4 wks so a bit early BUT these two look so different that i’m just sure the darker chick is a cockerel.. much...
based on the size of the chicks legs and overall stature, i’m 90% sure the roo was the jersey giant. that poor bird has some massive Barney Rubbles 😂😂 im not totally sure what the roo color is but i think black.
Definitely has a rose comb so i think ive narrowed it down to the black laced golden wyandotte :) roo is either a JG or bantam. will be interesting to see feather pattern- right now they appear to be barred
Anyone have a few of these beauties? I have two chicks - both look very different- but are equally cute and they are getting large quickly!! Curious what you think of yours? Are they docile, friendly birds?
I decided to hatch my own chicks this year instead of battling my way through the long lines at the local farm store.
4 of my hatching eggs were received for free from a friend with a mixed flock. All four eggs hatched on 4/12.
Here is a list of breeds in her flock...

I know I shouldn’t, but I have favorites in my flock… I love all of my hens equally, but some just stand out over others! This is my speckled sussex Maid Marion.. shes not particularly sweet nor a really good egg layer, but she sure is cute 🥰. Would love to see everyone else’s!
The chochins they have are large fowl. Here is a better photo of my feather footed friend I believe is the cochin- they are the only breed on the list with feathered feet I think...
And here is a fresh picture of the chick from Egg #4- such a little cutie- but all over the place with its colors...
One of my favorites in our flock- a gothic cutie with an extra large comb and her name is Brunhylda. She is an absolute cuddle bug. She lays big chocolate brown eggs and doesn't care what anyone thinks of her style or taste in music. Seriously sweet tempered girlie. She has a sister that is...
