I have a year and a half old chicken who had this today. She lost her sister earlier this week, so I don't know if it was stress/depression that caused this. I got it off but it took quite awhile with a wet paper towel and warm water. I hope she will be ok.
I'm new to this whole chicken thing and I have 2 Amercauna's. My son brews beer and he brought me a bad of fermented mash which I fed to them and they really seemed to like it. They aren't laying yet - hopefully soon!
I picked up some chicken wire on the way home from work tonight, so am going to try that on the fence first, as I need access to the roof since it comes open and that is how I feed and water them. Hopefully this will work! Thanks!
Ok, I'm not aware of them having bugs, so wasn't sure if it was a precautionary thing to put on them, but it sounds like only if they get them. Right?
Another question - what would you put on the top of a fence to keep them from hopping from their coop roof to the fence that has 4 dogs on the...
Ok thanks, they are 18 weeks this week. I'd better go get some oyster shells so I'm ready. Also, another question - someone told me that you should be some powder stuff on them to prevent bugs?
I have 2 Americauna's that are about 18 weeks. I've been told that the nesting box needs to be closed so that don't use it as a "bathroom". It is the same height as the roost I believe. When should I open it and do I leave it open all day once I do open it? Thanks - I'm new at this.
