    The khaki-Campbell duck Thread !!!!!!!!

I am wondering if I should prepare for my duck to be laying eggs soon? Did anyone start their on layers pellets at about 17 weeks or do you just wait until they lay their first egg? I really worry about this excessive calcium for drakes controversy. The majority seem to say that it's ok to feed...

    Layer pellets for DRAKES???

I have 2 drakes and 1 duck about 15 weeks old and am thinking about putting them on layer's pellets in a few weeks since I figured my duck could start laying anytime after 17 weeks. If I feed them all layer's pellets do I need to also have a dish of oyster shell out for the duck?

The one drake has always had curly drake feathers but the one I just figured out is a drake hasn't developed any curly drake feathers yet but head and butt feathers are turning almost black/green. I expect to see some curls anytime but also I've read that in some small flocks one dominant drake...

wendeld, are your drakes displaying any new behavior? My 2 drakes and duck are about 15 weeks old now and so far are still getting along with each other just fine. They still wiggle up my arm or leg, even more often now. They do it even if I don't have food. They do a similar thing to my small...

Lynzi777, how old are your khakis? Mine were about 24-48 hours old when I got them and spent a good amount of time with them when they were little, handling them when they got a little older to spend some time outdoors but they didn't really start eating out of my hand until they were a little...

Can I have three drakes and everyone get along?

Sounds pretty complicated and risky. Well I am just going to hope for the best and hope they keep their nice personalities but if not, maybe I can beg my husband for a 4th, female for sure. Hopefully then they would all live in harmony. That's too bad the Suprelorin isn't working for yours

Flighty is so handsome! He's a Khaki Campbell? I love the color. I think I'll start leaving mine out all day too and of course locking them into their duck house at night. I just want to plant a few more small bushes and trees so they have some more places to duck and cover when there's a hawk...

Can I have three drakes and everyone get along?

Thank you for the advice. I REALLY want to avoid neutering, I actually have found someone that is able to do it but of course there is a big risk with anesthesia in birds. So I don't think I'll change anything until I see some conflict. Is it pretty obvious when they are fighting? Obvious...

Carcajou, did you let them free range or were they in an enclosure of some sort? How much room did they have? I'm wondering if letting them free range all day rather than just when I'm home will help with any aggression. Sorry to hear about you losing your drake

Thank you all for your help, especially for the video. So pretty positive I have two drakes and 1 duck. Thank you so much for your response too Coop Scoop Boogie, I am sooooo relieved to hear that someone out there has been able to keep this combo. I raised all 3 of these guys together and so...

Can I have three drakes and everyone get along?

I have the exact problem, 1 drake, 1 duck and 1 unknown now looking like a drake. They are about 12 weeks old and the "unknown" Khaki Campbell is now developing brown feathers with a green sheen on it's head just like the Khaki Campbell drake (I actually successfully vent sexed him) just not as...

    The khaki-Campbell duck Thread !!!!!!!!

I'm not able to get a video linked, actually having problems just getting a picture attached. Well, if it's all about the quack at this age, about 12 weeks now, I'm in trouble. The two Khakis sound very much alike, Welsh Harlequin is quite noisy and MUCH louder than the Khakis. I don't think the...
